Vacuum cleaner has now become a must-have tool in every house as it is used to keep the house clean by mopping off all the dirt and dust. It is one of the most versatile and easy-to-use cleaning tools that make the cleaning process easy and quick to complete and that too with utmost efficiency. Once you invest in this piece of equipment, it adds a tag of comfort to your life and you can complete your domestic cleaning duties with utmost care and effectiveness.

The older versions of vacuum cleaners were bulky, but the newer models are light in weight and super-efficient. This has been possible due to the implementation of the latest and super-smart technologies in these machines. Today you have the option to choose between dry vacuum cleaner and dry/wet vacuum cleaner for home. Both have their pros and cons.

Bin for Collecting Dirt or Liquid

The dry ones, as the name suggests, are not meant to deal with liquid. They suck away the dirt and dust from floors, upholstery etc. and collect it in a bag. The advanced attachments and filters in them can absorb the allergens in indoor air, which gets settled in the form of dust on your sofas, carpets, curtains etc. Good vacuum cleaners make use of cyclonic technology, HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestor) filters and UV light disinfection system that helps in eliminating not only the dust, but also the viruses and bacteria from the house ensuring a healthy environment.

The wet/dry cleaners also work on the similar principle of collecting dust as the traditional or dry vacuum cleaner but with a slight difference. It uses a bucket instead of the dust bag. It can also be used to suck up any spilled liquid on the floor or carpet.

Water-Proof Parts

The wet cleaners are designed in such a manner that the collector can is waterproof. The electrical parts or the fan are safeguarded in such a way that water doesn’t get into these parts. This makes it extremely useful to wash your floor or carpet or suck up spilled liquid without the fear of damaging the machine. The dry vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, is liable to short-circuit if you try to do any such task with them.

Should You Buy Wet or Dry Vacuum Cleaner?

If you intend to use the vacuum cleaner only for dry cleaning, then the standard dry cleaners are the best bet. This is because they might have better particle filtration. So, once the dry dust gets caught in the bag it cannot escape from the other end of the cleaner.

Though both the wet and dry vacuum cleaners are used for performing the basic function of cleaning, their basic difference lies in their designing. In the dry cleaner, the internal machinery doesn’t have the protection that covers it up to protect the electrical parts from the liquid that is being sucked in. The wet cleaner has a trap that prevents water from entering its electrical circuit.

Getting a wet-dry vacuum can be considered as a good replacement to the traditional mop and bucket, while a dry vacuum cleaner can be a replacement to dusting in a way.
